Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Pixel Legion ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use Pixel Legion (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email, username, password (stored only as a salted hash), and profile details you provide.
- Authentication data — when you sign in with a third-party provider such as Discord or Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar) to create or link your account.
- Connected gaming accounts — when you link Steam, Riot Games, Battle.net, or Xbox, we receive the profile and gameplay data those platforms make available (such as your handle, character, and game library).
- Payment information — payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited transaction details (amount, status, and the last four digits / card brand), but we do not store full card numbers.
- Coaching content — session briefs, goals, VOD links, messages, reviews, and related materials.
- Usage and device data — log data, IP address, browser type, and interactions with the Service, collected to keep it secure and reliable.
3. How we use information
We use information to: provide and operate the Service; create and authenticate accounts; match Students with Coaches; process payments and payouts; auto-fill gaming profiles from connected accounts; send transactional messages and notifications; provide support; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and improve and develop the Service. We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed:
- With other users— Coaches and Students see the information necessary to complete a session (for example, a Coach sees a Student's brief and goals; a public coach profile shows the Coach's chosen details).
- With service providers — Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Liveblocks (real-time session rooms), our hosting and database providers, and the gaming platforms you connect.
- For legal reasons — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Third-party platforms
When you connect a third-party account, that platform's own privacy policy governs its handling of your data. We access only the data you authorize and use it as described here. You can disconnect any linked platform at any time from your account settings, which removes our stored tokens for that platform.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery during account connection. We do not use these cookies for advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may break sign-in.
7. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where retention is required (for example, transaction records for tax and accounting purposes).
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most details in your account settings, or contact us to exercise these rights. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International users
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
